Frequently Asked Questions

Getting Started

  • We know that "fit" is the most important factor in therapy being effective. That is why we offer a free 15-minute consultation call before booking a full session. It gives you a chance to hear our voice, ask questions, and see if you feel a connection. If we aren't the right match, we will happily provide referrals to trusted colleagues who might be a better fit.

  • We offer both. We have a physical office in [City] for those who prefer face-to-face connection, but we also offer secure video sessions for anyone located in [State]. Many of our clients choose a hybrid approachβ€”coming in when they can, and doing virtual sessions when life gets busy.

  • Your session time is reserved exclusively for you. We require 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice will be charged the full session fee, as we are unable to fill that spot at the last minute.

Fees & Insurance

  • We are an out-of-network provider, which means we do not bill insurance companies directly. However, if you have a PPO plan, you likely have "out-of-network benefits." We provide you with a monthly medical receipt (called a Superbill) that you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement. We recommend calling your insurance provider and asking about your coverage for "outpatient mental health services" (CPT Code 90834).

  • Staying out-of-network allows us to maintain full privacy and control over your care. Insurance companies often dictate how many sessions you can have, require a formal mental health diagnosis for your permanent medical record, and can request access to your private session notes. By operating independently, we ensure that your therapy is driven by your needs, not an insurance adjuster's checklist.

  • Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a "Good Faith Estimate" explaining how much your medical care will cost. Before we begin working together, we will provide you with a clear, written estimate of our session fees so you never have to worry about hidden costs or surprise bills.

The Therapy Experience

  • We typically recommend starting with weekly sessions. This helps us build momentum, establish trust, and get to the root of things faster. Once you feel stable and have the tools you need, we can transition to bi-weekly or monthly "maintenance" sessions. We will decide on this cadence together.

  • There is no standard timeline because everyone's story is different. Some clients come for a specific transition and feel ready to move on after 3–6 months. Others value therapy as an ongoing practice for self-reflection and stay for a year or longer. We will regularly check in on your goals to ensure you are getting what you came for.

  • Those are often the most powerful sessions. When we aren't putting out immediate fires, we have the space to go deeper into underlying patterns, dreams, and subtle shifts. You don't need to bring a crisis to the room to do good work. Just bring yourself.
